Dahlia Tubers

Dahlia tubers are a great way to start dahlia plants!  Here's what you need to know:

  • Don't plant right before a rain. They don't let to get too wet until they have roots, so plan to plant them in a dry place or start them in pots if you need better control.
  • Don't plant too early. They like warm soil! Mother's Day is typically safe in Northern VA. Learn your region's "sweet spot."
  • Do make sure soil is well draining and aged compost is used to ensure healthy soil
  • Do inspect your tubers the day they arrive. You should see an eye; plant the tuber horizontally with the eye face-up for best results.

Terms and Conditions

  • Tubers will ship around 48 hours after your order. Select heated shipping if you'd like a heat pack included with your tubers for the journey from Northern Virginia. We cannot be responsible for weather in transit.
  • Tuber sales are final, and adjustments cannot be made to your order once placed.
  • We will combine shipping for all who place multiple orders.
  • Tubers must be inspected upon arrival and any issues must be reported within 3 days of arrival.
  • We love to provide advice at Kraus Farm! If you are new to dahlias, we'd love to answer any questions you may have prior to planting or throughout the dahlia season.  However, we cannot be held responsible for gardener-related issues with growing (rotting, pests, diseases).
